Two Trees

Posted by
Christine (Ellemford, United Kingdom) on 6 December 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

A replaced image from my earlier one, which created a lot of comments. A fixed sky by the very talented Mariana. I also had offers of help from Richard and I am looking forward to his comments. If you haven't already looked at their work then do, find them in the comment section. I look forward to and learn from both of their posts everyday. An update from Richard "I think the problem is the resizing of the photo's in combination with the
extreme contrast and black to the Photo."
Thank you both, very much

I'm very much an amateur photographer. I live in the hills of the Scottish Borders which has fantastic flora and fauna, as well as wonderful light.

Richard from Montferland, Netherlands

Wonderful composition Christine!! That big world and only the two trees. But how did you proces this photo because is see big pixels in the air??

6 Dec 2010 5:47am

@Richard: This was shot in raw, so perhaps as Celine suggests it is due to compression. I have tried it in NIK software and also photoshop, the results are the same. So the answer to your question, I don't know and would welcome any advice. This is what I value about Aminus, the differences of opinion and what I learn

Céline from New York City, United States

Nice composition ! But the compression damages the b&w...

@Céline: Please see my response to Richard, any advice given would be well accepted

Phil Morris from Saskatoon,, Canada

Love the layered tones in this beautiful composition. Superb capture.

WOW! I love this, Christine. Wonderful composition with the two trees and the fence running "through" the image.

Fabulous!!! Really lovely comp and beautiful as these grey tones. It works for me and unlike Celine I don't feel the compression (not sure I know what that is!) damages it. I like what I see and not sure that if it was pure b & w that it would be better.

It's beautiful Christine and the choice of black and white is excellent. What happened in your sky??

6 Dec 2010 11:05am

@Marie LC: Thank you Marie, re the sky, please look at my response to Richard, any advice gratefully received

MARIANA from Waterloo, Canada

Beautiful composition!

Christine, you have to fix this sky ! I wonder how come nobody above me did not notice that, or just did not want to say it .

6 Dec 2010 12:49pm

@MARIANA: Mariana, yes a few have said it, have a look at my response to Richard. Any advice gratefully received

Sonia Nansid from Barcelona Stockholm, Sweden

Like layers on a cake! Lovely composition.

Marleen from Doesburg, Netherlands

It's a beautiful composed subtle image:-) (I did notice the strange sky...lots of snow in the air I guess;-))))

6 Dec 2010 3:47pm

JCJ from Troyes, France

composition is uncluttered, three layered landscape pleases me very much
about the sky, i guess you processed the picture by changing too much the contrast, or the gamma, or did processing on a reduced size picture; it may have been emphasized by the upload on the site (which change the size again)

if you wish send me this image and i will fix it in a few seconds . there is nothing else needed but since sky is totally monotonous in this gray, do simple coloring !

7 Dec 2010 12:26pm

@Marleen: A really brilliant community :)

k@ from Paris, France

Not that natural that if felt for me once. Maybe too strong contrast ? but that's a matter of choice, of course ;) You know what you prefer and only this counts.

Hi Christine

An unusual B&W picture of the snow! Great effect of light, giving a sense of poetry. even the 3 wires are not uncommon!
Cheers
